White House Down, which also stars Maggie Gyllenhaal and Montreal native Rachelle Lefevre, is a CGI-loaded thriller directed by Roland Emmerich, who also made 2004’s The Day After Tomorrow in Montreal. The trailer shows the famous dome of the Capitol building exploding and scenes of the presidential plane Air Force One and the White House in flames. In the movie, which opens June 28, Channing Tatum plays Capitol Police officer John Cale, who is forced to rescue President James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx) when terrorists take over the White House.
